The Church refers to the Holy Eucharist as the source and summit of our faith. Wheat is broken and grape is crushed, the transformation begins. This is an example of our own lives. We come to the Holy Eucharist at times broken, heart sick or needy and the Body of Christ comforts and soothes us.
St. Augustine in his homily to the new Catholics at Easter reminded them that we are what we eat. The Holy Eucharist is the Body of Christ and we, as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, bring the Body of Christ to all we serve. All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine.
We grow in intimacy with the realization that we are changed in this relationship with Christ. There is a difference in our life when we receive and participate in the Eucharistic life of our community. If you feel that this is a ministry that interests you, please contact Barbara Quayle 928-282-7545 or sign up below. We serve at all weekend Masses and daily Mass, if needed, during the week.
